Grip of the Shadow Plague - Brandon Mull As usual, the beginning of the story was a bit slow but things picked up a few chapters later. Seth is turning into a interesting character, outshining his sister Kendra, whose character hasn't got much growth. I kept trying to finish Kendra's chapters as quickly as possible so I could go back to Seth's side of the story. Warren was other enjoyable character, lessing the burden of putting up with Kendra's blandness.
You can see a pattern in the way things happen compared to the previous installments, so the first half of the book had me doubting if I really wanted to read the rest of the series... but then they started talking about 'The world's greatest adventurer' and lots of cool (unexpected!) stuff started happening and I became a believer.
