Woodsong

Wood Song - Gary Paulsen Very short book with no defined plot, it's a compilation of anecdotes from the author's experiences running sled dogs. This is a re-read after about five years and I still liked it but wasn't as affected as I was last time. The first part of the book is about the author learning about 'the wild' and the creatures that live in it. The animals take the book, you truly care for them and get their personalities. It's emotive and exciting and insightful. I cried a bit in some chapters, and that's extremely unusual for me. I have soft spot for dogs...

The second part of the book, which is shorter, narrates a week long sled-dog race; honestly, it's not that much interesting as the previous part and ends somewhat abruptly. All in all, it's nice enough: reasonable length, good pacing. Give it a go, I say.
