It's a bit hard getting through the first 120 (of 300) pages full of boring preamble, but if you manage to get past that point the story starts moving really fast. The two main characters were very bland and annoying, constantly overshadowed by the magical creatures around them. The idea is promising, so I have hope the next books will be better.
